From Heartstopper

Late at night, a plan can feel both precious and almost too much to carry. By morning I can see every reason to leave it alone. I don't always have a convincing answer for those reasons. Sometimes I pick it up again anyway.
The room holds its breath
After midnight
Phone face down
One pulse of light
Ceiling cracks learn my name
I stay awake
They take shape
I set them on the table
Count the weight
Test the edge
Dreams wait
Like loaded glass
I carry them
I do not ask
They shine
They bruise
They stay
Coffee cools
Morning comes
Drafts unsent
Tongue goes numb
Every plan wears a cost
I trace the line
I pause
Hands steady
Heart loud
I choose what
Stays now
Dreams wait
Like loaded glass
I carry them
I count the cracks
They shine
They bruise
They stay
If one breaks open
In my hands
Let the cut
Teach the span
I have learned
What fire takes
I keep the scar
I let it ache
Dreams wait
I stand still
I pay the weight
I choose the will
They shine
They bruise
They stay
Morning moves
Across the floor
I pick them up
With purpose
